In all the talk about who the next manager if the Red Sox will be, one potential pool of candidates are the other 29 managers in the game.

Globe colleague Nick Cafardo took a look at some possibilities today in his On Baseball column.

The dream candidate would be Joe Maddon, one of the finalists when the Red Sox hired Terry Francona. He seems unlikely to bail on Tampa. But Bruce Bochy (Giants) and Eric Wedge (Mariners) could be possibilities. Maybe even Tony LaRussa.

Are there managers out there you think the Red Sox would be wise to try and get?

In other news, Kevin Youkilis was on WAAF today and said this about the controversy regarding drinking in the clubhouse:

"I don't think it's the proper way to go about things, but I also don't think that's how you win or lose games. To say that's the reason why you're losing games, I don't think so. But yes, I don't think that's the right thing to do.

"That's something that's in-house. I don't even want to talk about it. That's in-house things that happen, if it did happen. A lot of us position players, we're so busy playing that we don't know what's going on. There's things that you have no idea what's going on. You're so busy playing that you don't know even half the stuff. And that the funny thing, too. I swear to you, I'm always like the last person to find out things, too."
