Ben Cherington is in the Dominican Republic this weekend, scouting players with assistant GM Mike Hazen and seeing to the reorganization of the team's international scouting efforts.

He said on Thursday that the Sox would "take a breather" with their managerial search this weekend, something Larry Lucchino confirmed.

The Red Sox are only team with a vacancy, so speed is not of the essence. Beyond that, it's not really necessary to have a manager until the start of the Winter Meetings on Dec. 5.

Presumably the Red Sox would want their new manager involved in discussions that week in Dallas.

If something pops up, we'll let you know.
