The Orioles have a third base coaching vacancy and Red Sox bench coach Demarlo Hale is being considered for the position according to major league sources.

Hale is under contract for one more season with Boston, but Sox coaches were granted permission to pursue other opportunities. Pitching coach Curt Young went to Oakland. The Sox still retain bullpen coach Gary Tuck, hitting coach Dave Magadan, third base coach Tim Bogar and Hale.

Once the Red Sox name a manager, there's a possibility that some of the coaches still under contract would be retained since it's so late in the process.

The Red Sox will have the toughest time finding a pitching coach though they recently hired Bob McClure as a scout. he was recently let go as pitching coach in Kansas City. There are a few big names available in Rick Peterson and Leo Mazzone, both of whom are employed outside of baseball and former Sox pitching coach Dave Wallace, who was one of Bobby Valentine's pitching coaches in New York.
