Red Sox retain Andrew Miller
DALLAS — These truly are the Bizarro Winter Meetings. The Marlins are throwing around bags of money and the Red Sox and Yankees are flippin' nickels.
But there is a little news. The Red Sox retained free agent lefty Andrew Miller. He was 6-3 with a 5.54 ERA and a 1.82 WHIP last season and averaged a modest 6.9 strikeouts per nine innings.
Miller appeared to be a non-tender candidate given his inconsistency. No word yet on the details of his deal, but it surely isn't a major commitment.
John Paul Morosi of Fox Sports had the Miller news first.
UPDATE, 5:15 p.m.: Red Sox announced it was a one-year, non-guaranteed deal.
