The Red Sox have not yet finalized their coaching staff for 2012. As we mentioned on Twitter last week, Jerry Royster will be the third base coach with Tim Bogar becoming the bench coach.

Royster, 59, came up in the Dodgers organization with Bobby Valentine. He was the interim manager of the Brewers in 2002 and has experience managing in the minors and in Korea. Royster also played parts of 16 seasons in the majors.

Bogar was the third base coach for two seasons and has three years of experience on the Red Sox staff. The front office thinks highly of Bogar and making him the bench coach will help groom him for the possibility of managing one day.

And, let's be honest, he had a few too many guys thrown out at the plate coaching third.

That leaves the pitching coach and first base coach spots open. The Sox reportedly hope to have the staff in place later this week.

UPDATE, 12:57 p.m.: Valentine said on WEEI a few minutes ago that they have decided on a pitching coach. But he did not say who that is.
