Righthanded reliever Scott Atchison, who was designated for assignment last month, cleared waivers and was assigned to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Atchison will be in major league camp for spring training.

Atchison, who turns 36 in March, appeared in 60 games with the Red Sox over the last two seasons with an earned run average of 4.08.
