FORT MYERS, Fla. — The position players will take their physicals today, the last step before the first full-squad workout tomorrow.

It's a foggy morning in Fort Myers. As Dan Shaughnessy just said, "It's like Casablanca out there."

Is Casablanca actually foggy? I have no idea, but it was a good line.

(Speaking of which, I watched "Casablanca" again in January. That movie stands up even 60 years later.)

Josh Beckett will be among the pitchers throwing live batting practice today. To be honest with you, it's more entertaining to see the minor league prospects the pitchers are facing.

I'll see Jon Lester throw a million cutters this season. But getting to see guys like Brandon Jacobs, Bryce Brentz and Jeremy Hazelbaker swing was fun. Keep an eye on those guys this season.

Check back later. We'll have plenty more.
