FORT MYERS, Fla. — Greetings from Field 2 at the beautiful new Red Sox complex.

There are fields, batting cages and bullpens everywhere you look along with newly planted sod and palm trees.

There are 15 players or so on the field stretching before a workout. The group includes Jon Lester, Daisuke Matsuzaka (who has sort of orange hair), Andrew Miller, Rich Hill and Nate Spears.

Lester threw in the bullpen for the second time since he arrived. I wasn't standing behind the plate, but from the side his stuff looked pretty crisp for this time of the year.

There are fantasy camp games going on around the complex. Today is the final day for the camp.

Bobby Valentine has scheduled an informal workout on Monday, so look for more players to show up then. Valentine will be at Mohegan Sun tonight with Joe Girardi for an event hosted by the Connecticut Sports Foundation.

Others scheduled to be on hand for the celebrity dinner and memorabilia auction are Evan Longoria, Lou Piniella, Jim Leyland, David Cone, Andre Dawson, Goose Gossage and Gaylord Perry.

As of this morning, there was no progress with getting David Ortiz signed before his arbitration hearing on Monday. Nothing new to report with Roy Oswalt, either.
