FORT MYERS, Fla. Dustin Pedroia had a wrap on his right arm this morning after being hit by a pitch from the Yankees' Adam Warren on Thursday night.

"Just a bruise," he said.

X-rays were negative and Pedroia said he would try hitting in the cage. He was scratched from today's game but hopes to play on Saturday.

In other news:

David Ortiz, Cody Ross, Ryan Lavarnway, Jose Iglesias, Ryan Sweeney and Felix Doubront are on the travel squad for Jupiter to play the Marlins tomorrow.

Bobby Valentine was making some cuts this morning. Outfielder Alex Hassan and catcher Max St. Pierre were among those called into his office.

Here is how the pitching lines up for the next few days:

Friday at Baltimore: Buchholz, Albers, Thomas.

Saturday at Miami: Doubront, Mathis, Thomas.

Saturday vs. Philadelphia: Aceves, Morales, Bailey, Padilla.

Sunday at Toronto: Bard, Bailey, Atchison, Thomas.

Monday at Philadelphia: Lester, Albers, Atchison, Ohlendorf.

Bard is scheduled for six innings. So obviously he remains in competition for a rotation spot.
