All sides have now confirmed our story from this morning -- Marlon Byrd will join the Red Sox on Sunday. He comes to Boston for righthanded pitcher Michael Bowden who was designated for assignment by the Red Sox on Tuesday.

The Red Sox will also receive cash to defray the cost of the prorated amount of Byrd's $6.5 million deal, and the Cubs will also receive a player to be named later, a major league source said.

Byrd also confirmed his deal to the Red Sox to reporters after the Cubs game this afternoon.
