Red Sox center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury left today's game in the fourth inning with a right shoulder injury.

The team announced only that he will be evaluated further.

In the bottom of the fourth, with Ellsbury on first and one out, Dustin Pedroia grounded right at the second base bag. Ellsbury was running on the play and slid into Rays shortstop Reid Brignac, spilling him as he stepped on the bag and threw to first.

Brignac landed on Ellsbury's right shoulder. He grabbed it immediately and was slow to get up. He walked off holding his arm carefully.

Cody Ross shifted to center and Ryan Sweeney came in to play right field and bat first.
