FORT MYERS, Fla. — We know the lineup, we know the rotation, we know three players on the bench and we know at least a few of the relievers. But we don't know the exact makeup of the Red Sox 25-man roster just yet.

The only transaction so far today was that Ryan Lavarway was optioned back to Pawtucket.

Here's what else we know for sure, with Andrew Bailey's status up in the air:

Catchers (2): Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Kelly Shoppach.

Infielders (5): Adrian Gonzalez, Dustin Pedroia, Mike Aviles, Kevin Youkilis, Nick Punto

Outfielders (4): Jacoby Ellsbury, Cody Ross, Ryan Sweeney, Darnell McDonald

DH (1): David Ortiz.

Starters (5): Jon Lester, Josh Beckett, Clay Buchholz, Felix Doubront, Daniel Bard

Bullpen (5): Alfredo Aceves, Mark Melancon, Matt Albers, Franklin Morales, Vicente Padilla.

That's 22.

The pitchers remaining in camp are: Aaron Cook, Ross Ohlendorf, Scott Atchison, Michael Bowden, Justin Thomas.

The position players remaining are: Dan Butler, Nate Spears, Pedro Ciriaco, Jason Repko.

Assuming Bailey goes to the DL, the Sox would need at least two more relievers. Bobby Valentine said today they might even start with an eight-man bullpen.

Cook and Ohlendorf are targeted for Pawtucket as starters. That leaves Atchison, Bowden and Thomas. Valentine said he does not expect any additions from outside the organization.

My guess, and it's just a guess, is that they keep Atchison, Bowden and Thomas for now and go north with the extra arm.

Keeping Padilla, Atchison and Thomas would require opening up three spots on the 40-man roster, however.

John Lackey and Bobby Jenks are already on the 60-day DL. Ryan Kalish, Chris Carpenter and Daisuke Matsuzaka could join them there.
