Matt Barnes promoted to Salem
Matt Barnes, the 19th overall selection in the 2011 draft by the Red Sox, was promoted from Low Class A Greenville to Single A Salem earlier today.
The 21-year-old righthander out of UConn didn't give the Red Sox much choice. Check out his statistics through five starts:
26.2 IP, 12 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 42 K.
The one run scored on Sunday after he left the game.

Anthony Ranaudo, the organzation's other top pitching prospect, is in extended spring training and has yet to join an affiliate this season.
