A few other notes from Fenway Park:

• Batting practice was moved inside because of the rain. But Carl Crawford threw for the first time since coming back from his elbow injury and that went well.

• About a dozen Sox players were engrossed in the NCAA tournament game between Stony Brook and LSU that went into extra innings before a rain delay.

• Daisuke Matsuzaka refused interviews regarding his first start in the majors in a year. One of his staff members relayed a quote that said, "Saturday's game will be a special game. It represents a new step for me. It is going to be a very emotional day, but I have to remain calm and treat it like any other start I have had throughout my career."

Matsuzaka last started a game for the Sox on June 10, 2011.

• Daniel Bard will pitch an inning for Pawtucket tonight against Indianapolis.
