Matt Barnes, who turns 22 on June 17, threw a seven-inning shutout for Single A Salem at Potomac (Md.) on Saturday.

Barnes is now 6-1, 0.93 on the season in 12 starts. His line: 67.2 IP, 43 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 11 BB, 86 K. He was a first-round pick last year out of UConn.

The Red Sox aren't quite at the "Hey, there's a some good talent on the way at least" stage. But, hey, there's some good talent on the way at least.
