Game over: Marlins 4, Red Sox 1: Adrian Gonzalez walked, but that was about all against closer Heath Bell. The Red Sox have come against a rough time versus high-end pitchers - Steven Strasburg, Gio Gonzalez and Jordan Zimmerman and tonight, Josh Johnson. The game was played in 2:35 before 32,562.

Bottom 8th: Marlins 4, Red Sox 1: Mark Melancon came on to retire the Marlins in the eighth. The Marlins did not score after the second inning and were still about to win this game.

Top 8th: Marlins 4, Red Sox 1: With two outs, Podsednik singled after Aviles and pinch-hitter Nick Punto (for Beckett) made outs. Where was Will Middlebrooks, even though the Marlins were throwing a righthander?

Bottom of 7th: Marlins 4, Red Sox 1: Beckett struck out Coghan and then walked John Buck before retiring the next two batters.

Top 7th: Marlins 4, Red Sox 1: Salty, Youk and Sweeney all go down against Johnson, who pitched his final inning.

Bottom 6th: Marlins 4, Red Sox 1: Beckett continued to throw well retiring the side in order. He has retired 13 in a row.

Top 6th: Marlins 4, Red Sox 1: A single by Scott Podsednik, a double by Dustin Pedroia created Boston's second scoring opportunity of the game. This time they got one run out of the deal when Adrian Gonzlaez lofted a fly ball to left field to score Podsednik.

Bottom 5th: Marlins 4, Red Sox 0: If the Red Sox offense could get cranking, Beckett has neutralized the Marlins here. Reyes, Solano and Ramirez went down in order s Beckett had retired 10 straight.

Top 5th: Marlins 4, Red Sox 0: Johnson is really locked in, retiring 10 straight batters at this point.

Bottom 4th: Marlins 4, Red Sox 0: Beckett retired the side in order and has retired seven straight batters.

Top 4th: Marlins 4, Red Sox 0: Gonzalez, Ortiz and Salty all with fly ball outs.

Bottom 3rd: Marlins 4, Red Sox 0: Beckett gets Stanton to strikeout and gets two ground ball outs in his best inning so far.

Top 3rd: Marlins 4, Red Sox 0: Red Sox have allowed Johnson to get into a nice rhythm after their first-inning mis-fire.

Bottom 2nd: Marlins 4, Red Sox 0: The Marlins got another one off Beckett when John Buck led off with single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by pitcher Josh Johnson. He rode home on Solano"s single.

Top 2nd: Marlins 3, Red Sox 0: Ryan Sweeney singled but got picked off first.

Bottom 1st: Marlins 3, Red Sox 0: Jose Reyes led off with a triple off Josh Beckett that rolled all the way to the wall between Scott Podsednik in center and Adrian Gonzalez in right. He came in on Donovan Solano's sacrifice fly to right field. But the Marlins, unlike the Red Sox, maximized their opportunities when Giancarlo Stanton blooped a broken bat single to center and scored on Logan Morrison's double to left which scored the run after Adrian Gonzalez bobbled the carom off the wall. Gaby Sanchez singled in the third run.

Top 1st: Red Sox 0, Marlins 0: Missed opportunities have been a way of life for the Red Sox these days. After leadoff man Scott Podsednik singled and stole second base, Dustin Pedroia walked with nobody out. But Adrian Gonzalez whiffed on a 3-2 fastball, David Ortiz and Jarrod Saltalamacchia flew out to center to end what looked like a great chance to jump on Josh Johnson early.

The roof is open here on a beautiful night here in South Florida.
