Red Sox sign two more draft picks
The Red Sox have signed two more of their draft picks: University of Florida pitchers Brian Johnson and Austin Maddox.
Johnson signed for $1.575 million and Maddox for $350,000. Their signings were on hold until after the Gators were eliminated from the College World Series.
Johnson, a lefthanded junior who went 8-5 with a 3.90 ERA this season, was selected in the first round (31st overall) while Maddox, a righthanded junior closer who went 3-3 with 12 saves and a 2.44 ERA, was selected in the third round.
The Sox have signed 21 of their picks, including the top 12 players taken in the first 10 rounds.
