Jacoby Ellsbury homers in GCL game; Carl Crawford shifted to Portland
OAKLAND — Greetings from the worst stadium in the majors. A few notes to share:
• Jacoby Ellsbury was 1 for 2 with a walk and a two-run homer for the Gulf Coast League Red Sox today. He played six innings in center field. Look for him to join Double A Portland this week.
• Carl Crawford has been shifted to Portland and will start for the Sea Dogs on Tuesday night against Trenton at Hadlock Field.
• Remember Chris Carpenter? He's the RHP the Sox received for the Cubs as part of the Theo Epstein compensation. He had surgery to remove bone chips from his elbow during spring training. Carpenter returned to the mound today and pitched an inning in that GCL game. He allowed one hit.
