Red Sox trade Lars Anderson for RHP Steven Wright
The Red Sox made a second trade today, dealing Triple A first baseman Lars Anderson to Cleveland for Double-A righthander Steven Wright.
Wright, a 27-year-old knuckleballer, is 9-6 with a 2.49 ERA in 20 starts. He leads Eastern League qualifiers with a .207 opponent batting average and also places among EL leaders in ERA (2nd) and strikeouts (4th).
Anderson, 24, was an 18th round pick in the 2006 draft who at one point in his career was considered a top prospect before he faded. With Adrian Gonzalez locked in at first base, he was blocked from advancing.
Anderson was hitting .259 with nine homers and 52 RBIs in 93 games for Pawtucket. He was 1 for 8 in six games for the Red Sox.
