A few events you may want to take note of:
• The Sabermetrics, Scouting and the Science of Baseball seminar will be Aug. 4-5 at Boston University.
There is an unbelievable group of baseball experts scheduled for the seminar including Bobby Valentine, Mike Port, Tim Bogar, Tom Tippett, Jared Porter, Mark Simon, Steven Goldman, Kevin Goldstein, Mitchel Litchman, Andy Andres and more.
Can't recommend this event enough. Check out the web site for details. Tickets for the weekend seminar are $125, with a discounted pass of $65 available to full time students, with all proceeds from the event going to the Jimmy Fund.
• The Futures at Fenway doubleheader will be Aug. 18 Lowell plays Hudson Valley at 1:05 p.m. before Pawtucket plays Buffalo.
This is a good event for kids and a chance to sit in good seats at Fenway.
• The David Ortiz Baseball Clinic will be Aug. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at Catholic Memorial high school in West Roxbury. Ortiz will be on site to direct clinic activities and provide instruction. He will be joined by a selection of the top prep and collegiate coaches from the Boston area.
The clinic is open to boys and girls ages 6 to 14 and focuses on the team concept and fundamentals of baseball. Each participant receives a baseball autographed by Ortiz and the opportunity to win additional prizes. Cost of the clinic is $125.

• The sixth-annual annual Beckett Bowl will be Aug. 20 at Jillian's Lucky Strike Lanes in Boston. Joining the Red Sox righthander will be an all-star line-up of athletes and celebrities helping to raise funds for Boston Children's Hospital.
