OAKLAND — It's only five games, but the Red Sox offense has vanished on the road trip.

The Sox are 38 of 177 (.215) with 10 runs scored, nine extra-base hits and 12 walks in those five games. Five of the runs came in one game against Seattle. The other four games have seen the Sox held to either one or two runs.

The Sox face Bartolo Colon tonight. He is coming off the DL, hasn't pitched since June 17 and was 3-5, 5.74 in the nine starts before he strained an oblique.

Bobby Valentine, when asked what was going on, said all it meant was that the Sox were due to go on a tear.
