Stat of the Day: Jacoby Ellsbury extended his hitting streak to 37 against the Orioles after a 2-for-5 performance Tuesday. That is the longest such streak by a Red Sox player against any team and the longest ever against the Orioles franchise.

Notes: The Orioles are 7-3 against Boston this year ... The Red Sox are 4-9 in August ... Miguel Gonzalez is 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA in his last three starts ... Cook allowed seven runs in 2 2/3 innings against the Orioles in a May 5 start ... Cook will make his first appearance tonight since beating the Rangers Aug. 6, when he allowed one run over seven innings ...
