Good morning from Logan Airport. We're here waiting for a flight to Baltimore and the last road trip of the Red Sox season.

Today is the one-year anniversary of the Sox losing, 4-3, in Baltimore in Game 162 to complete their epic collapse. So much has changed and so much hasn't. There's a new GM, a new manager and soon to be another new manager.

The team somehow got worse and approximately 234 different players got in a game this season.

(OK, so it was 56. It just felt like 234.)

Now here we are, back in Baltimore a year later. Only this time with a lot less drama.

This is a weird time to be a beat writer. There is not much point to writing about the games, so we fill the paper with feature stories instead. Meanwhile the writers from Baltimore, New York and Tampa Bay sitting a few feet away are hanging on every pitch.

In the end, it's the same job and it's a fantastic job. But it's a lot more exciting when the team you cover is playing for something.

Our excitement will come, presumably, in the weeks to come when the Sox remake their roster in an attempt to make next Sept. 28 a heck of a lot more interesting than this one.

If you're reading this, you're hanging in and that is much appreciated. We'll do what we can to make the remaining six games interesting to read about. Hey, maybe Guillermo Quiroz will hit for the cycle or something.

Yes, the Sox have a guy named Guillermo Quiroz.
