Here's some information on the 2013 World Baseball Classic:

Pool A
Site: Fukuoka, Japan (Fukuoka Yahoo! Japan Dome)
Dates: March 2-6
Teams: Japan, China, Cuba and qualifier TBA

Pool B
Site: Taichung, Taiwan (Intercontinental Stadium)
Dates: March 2-5
Teams: Australia, Korea, Netherlands, qualifier TBA

Pool C
Site: San Juan, Puerto Rico (Hiram Bithorn Stadium)
Dates: March 7-10
Teams: Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, qualifier TBA

Pool D
Site: Arizona (Chase Field and Salt River Fields)
Dates: March 7-10
Teams: United States, Italy, Mexico, qualifier TBA

Second Round
Pool A and Pool B winners and runners-up at Tokyo Dome, March 8-12
Pool C and Pool D winners and runners-up at Marlins Park, March 12-16

Semifinals and Final
AT&T Park in San Francisco, March 17-19

Rosters: Provisional rosters for all 16 participating teams will be announced on Dec. 3 at the 2012 Baseball Winter Meetings.

Tickets: Dec. 3 is when sales start. Ticket strips will include tickets to each of the six games at each venue (first and second round), or each of the three games in San Francisco. Go to www.worldbaseballclassic.com for information.

Qualifiers: Spain and Canada have advanced. The two remaining qualifiers will be played at Xinzhuang Stadium in New Taipei City, Taiwan from Nov. 15-18 and at Rod Carew Stadium in Panama City, Panama from November 15-19.

Chinese Taipei, New Zealand, Philippines and Thailand will play in China. Panama, Brazil, Colombia and Nicaragua will play in Panama.

Impact on the Red Sox: Any player selected will be gone from spring training from roughly the last few days of February to possibly March 21.

Tough to say at this point what players will be selected, But certainly David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia, Clay Buchholz, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jon Lester, Felix Doubront, Cody Ross, Andrew Bailey, Alfredo Aceves, Che-Hsuan Lin are candidates for their respective countries.
