OAKLAND, Calif. — A few pre-game tidbits from Oakland Coliseum . . .

• The Sox have called up infielder Ivan DeJesus from Pawtucket. With Dustin Pedroia's wife close to having their second baby, the second baseman could be called away for a few days before the road trip is over.

DeJesus is one of the prospects obtained from the Dodgers in The Trade. He can play second and shortstop.

• Yes, Pedro Ciriaco is starting in left field. No, he has never started in the outfield before.

• Ryan Kalish is having problems with his shoulder, which explains why he hasn't been playing.

• Jacoby Ellsbury is out of the lineup with a sore right wrist.

• RHP Scott Atchison is scheduled to pitch for Pawtucket on Monday.
