FORT MYERS, Fla. Pardon the lack of posts this morning. The Sox have a night game tonight and there was some packing and organizing to be done at the Globe condo after living here for nearly two months.

Here is what is coming up for the Sox:

The Sox host the Twins tonight with Clay Buchholz on the mound. We also could get some clarity on the roster.

Ryan Sweeney's opt-out clause kicks in at midnight. Then the team has a day to tell him what its plans are. Worth noting: The Sox did not sign Sweeney until they learned Ryan Kalish needed shoulder surgery. Sweeney also has not hit well in camp (.217/.294/.239 in 51 plate appearances). But he does play exemplary defense at three outfield positions and that has value.

It would appear that Jackie Bradley Jr. and Daniel Nava will make the team. So it then becomes a question of picking Sweeney, Mike Carp or Mauro Gomez. Carp perhaps has more upside and can play two positions.

The Sox have day games against the Twins on Friday and Saturday. The team leaves for New York on Saturday after the game.

Thanks to a change in the collective bargaining agreement, teams cannot schedule workouts on the day before Opening Day. They can't even call it an optional workout. All they can do is tell players that they can work out if they want to.

The coaches will be at Yankee Stadium around noon. My guess is a bunch of players will be there, too.

That's it for now. Check back later for the lineups and notes.
