Final: Orioles 8, Red Sox 7

Game over: Orioles 8, Red Sox 7: In a game that featured 27 hits, the Red Sox lose.

Drew Sutton singled with one out off Dan McCutchen. But that was it.

Middle of the 9th: Orioles 8, Red Sox 7: Danny Valencia, who was briefly with the Red Sox last season, just hit one a mile off Terry Doyle.

Top of the 9th: Orioles 7, Red Sox 7: Down 7-1, the Sox scored six runs to tie it off Daniel Schlereth and Adam Russell.

Daniel Nava, Brock Holt and Mike Carp had singles to score the first run. Lavarnway popped out to right before Drew Sutton singled to load the bases. Jeremy Hazelbaker singled in a run. Mauro Gomez pinch hit against Russel and drove in a run with a single. Jon Diaz then singled in two more and moved Gomez to third.

Jackie Bradley Jr. singled in the tying run. Nava grounded out before Holt walked. Carp had another chance to he flied to left.

Middle of the 7th: Orioles 6, Red Sox 1: Ugly inning for Daniel Bard: three runs on two hits, a HBP, a walk, a stolen base and a balk. Ryan Flaherty had a two-run single.

Off to the clubhouse.

Top of the 7th: Orioles 3, Red Sox 1: O's prospect Kevin Gausman struck out Napoli and Salty before Middlebrooks doubled to right center, bouncing the ball over the wall. Gomes then lined to left.

Top of the 6th: Orioles 3, Red Sox 1: Dempster is done after five innings. His line: 6 hits, 3 runs (all earned), two walks, one stikeout and one home run. He threw 73 pitches, 48 strikes. It was his worst outing of the spring but all the damage was one inning.

Top of the 5th: Orioles 3, Red Sox 1: Dempster walked Betemit then got Machado to roll into a 5-4-3 DP. Robinson walked before Teagarden popped out. The Sox went in order against Matusz.

Top of the 4th: Orioles 3, Red Sox 1: Ryan Dempster had allowed three earned runs in 14.2 innings this spring through the second inning. Then he allowed three earned runs in the third inning.

Robinson homered to center. Teagarden doubled. Pridie and Roberts singled. Flaherty lined to left to advance Pridie to third and McClouth grounded out to drive in the third run.

Top of the 3rd: Red Sox 1, Orioles 0: Dempster allowed a two-out single by Machado but he was picked off first by Salty.

The Sox had a weird bottom of the inning. Middlebrooks singled and Gomes walked. Sweeney hit a low liner to second base that hopped before Roberts caught it. He stepped on the bag for one out then threw to third to get Middlebrooks for the rare 4-5 double play.

Iglesias singled to extend the inning before Ellsbury popped to left.

Top of 2nd: Red Sox 1, Orioles 0: Quick inning for Dempster. Fly ball, groundout, foul pop. Then the Sox struck with one out. Victorino tripled into the corner in left and advanced to third when Pedroia singled to left, Napoli hammered a line drive to left, which Robinson caught. Victorino tagged and scored when the throw was errant. Salty then lined to left.

Pre-game: Good afternoon from JetBlue Park. The Red Sox (and Ryan Dempster) will be facing the Orioles.
