Game over: Red Sox 5, Twins 0: The Red Sox finished off a long day with a victory against the Twins. They had three pitchers throw a six-hitter. Salty's two-run homer was the big hit of the game.

Top of the 9th: Red Sox 5, Twins 0: The Sox reserves tacked on two runs. Heiker Meneses had an RBI double and Dan Butler a sacrifice fly

Middle of the 8th: Red Sox 3, Twins 0: Carpenter loaded the bases in the eighth and struck out Brian Dinkelman looking to end the inning.

Sox pitchers have allowed three runs over 18 innings so far today.

Middle of the 7th: Red Sox 3, Twins 0: Sox pitchers have held the Twins to five hits. Doubront went four innings, Tazawa two and Chris Carpenter the seventh.

Top 5th: Red Sox 3, Twins 0: Felix Doubront has given way to Junichi Tazawa. Doubront threw 68 pitches in four innings, allowed two hits, no runs and fanned four. He allowed two doubles. Brian Dozier led off with a single to right against Tazawa, who also gave up a double to Darin Mastroianni, but came away without allowing a run.

Bottom 4th: Red Sox 3, Twins 0: Jarrod Saltalamacchia blasted a two-run home to right field with Dustin Pedroia aboard.

Top 4th: Red Sox 1, Twins 0: Doubront pitches a 1-2-3 inning.

Bottom 3rd: Red Sox 1, Twins 0 - Devin Marrero, the young shortstop who replaced Pedro Ciricao in the lineup after Ciriaco was scratched with back spasms, singled with one out, but the Sox couldn't capitalize.

Top 3rd: Red Sox 1, Twins 0: Aaron Hicks doubled with one out, but Doubront bore down and struck out Jamey Carroll and got Chris Parmalee to fly out to center.

Bottom 2nd: Red Sox 1, Twins 0: Aaron Hicks, who appears to have won the CF job for the Twins made a spectacular diving catch to rob Mike Carp of extra bases in the warning track near the Triangle.

Top 2nd: Red Sox 1, Twins 0: Doubront surrendered a two-out double to Brian Dozier, but struck out Eduardo Escobar.

Bottom 1st: Red Sox 1, Twins 0: Jacoby Ellsbury doubled and eventually scored on Dustin Pedroia's double-play grounder. Jonny Gomes had also reached on an infield single to third base.

Top 1st: Red Sox 0, Twins 0: Aaron Hicks walked, but Felix Doubront recovered and got the next three batters.
