Game over: Three runs more came across in the eighth inning. Jackie Bradley Jr. (26 of 59, .441) singled in a run as did Ross and Jose Iglesias.

Top of the 8th: Red Sox 3, Twins 0: Aceves allowed a single and then threw away a double play ball. But he retired the side from there. The Sox then wasted a two-out double by Nava when Pedroia flied to right.

Top of the 7th: Red Sox 3, Twins 0: After a scoreless inning by Uehara, the Red Sox scored twice.

Victorino singled and went to second on an error. Gomes was hit by a pitch and Bradley ran for him. After a double steal, Ross singled in both runners.

Off to the clubhouse.

Top of the 6th: Red Sox 1, Twins 0: Hanrahan threw a perfect inning. The Sox then loaded the bases with one out on singles by Gomes, Iglesias and Ellsbury (2 for 2 with a walk). But Nava fanned and Pedroia grounded out.

Top of the 5th: Red Sox 1, Twins 0: Buchholz is done after four innings. He allowed one hit, one walk and struck out six.

His line this spring: 22.2 IP, 12 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 6 BB, 22 K. Pretty impressive. More impressive has been the command of his pitches.

Top of the 4th: Red Sox 1, Twins 0: Buchholz has retired nine of the 10 batters he has faced. The Sox left runners on in the second and third. Ellsbury walked in the third. He looks over his minor ankle injury.

Top of the 2nd: Red Sox 1, Twins 0: Buchholz worked around a two-out walk. Ellsbury doubled and advanced on grounders by Nava and Pedroia to score the first run.

Pre-game: Good evening from JetBlue Park. The Red Sox host the Twins with Clay Buchholz on the mound.

The game is on NESN and WEEI. But we'll have occasional updates here.

Lineup change for the Twins. Morneau is out with mild back tightness and Parmelee will hit fourth and play first. Wilkin Ramirez will start in right field.
