FORT MYERS, Fla. On another chilly morning at Fenway South (46 degrees!) here are some notes:

David Ortiz was scheduled for what John Farrell described as "an aggressive" base-running day. We shall see. Ortiz said this morning his right foot is sore and he'll see how he feels after he hits.

It's fair to say that Ortiz is no better than 50-50 for Opening Day at this point.

Will Middlebrooks has the flu now, too. But Jacoby Ellsbury is feeling better and back in the lineup.

A day after we ran this story, Andrew Miller cut his hair. But he still left it fairly long and kept a short beard. He looks like Russell Hammond, the guitar player of Stillwater.

Back with more later.
