FORT MYERS, Fla. — The United States was beaten, 4-3, by Puerto Rico on Friday and eliminated from the World Baseball Classic.

Shane Victorino was 1 for 11 in the tournament and 2 for 5 in the two exhibition games Team USA played beforehand.

Victorino played in five games with the Red Sox before he left for the WBC. He could be back in the Sox' lineup on Sunday.

Meanwhile, in Arizona, Xander Bogaerts is playing shortstop for the Dutch in an exhibition game against the Mariners.

With Jurickson Profar added to the roster, the Netherlands has a logjam in the infield.

Profar, Bogaerts, Andrelton Simmons, and Jonathan Schoop are all shortstops. Bogaerts has been playing third base, Simmons shortstop, and Schoop second base in the tournament. With Profar now on the roster, Bogaerts could DH.

The Red Sox have asked the Dutch to use their prized prospect only on the left side of the infield or DH. The Dutch play Monday in the semifinals in San Francisco.
