Bottom 4th: Rays 2, Red Sox 2 - Jarrod Saltalamacchia showed no signs of being tired when he hammered a Hellickson pitch off the centerfield wall for a double with two outs. He advanced to third on a wild pitch, but Gomes continued his hero act lining a ball to third that Longoria leaped for, knocked down, but couldn't recover to make the play scoring Salty with the tying run.

Top 4th: Rays 2, Red Sox 1 - Another strong, efficient inning for Dempster who struck out two.

Bottom 3rd: Rays 2, Red Sox 1 - A leadoff single by Jacoby Ellsbury, erased on a double play grounder by Daniel Nava.
