As is baseball custom, rookies must participate in dress-up day before the team leaves on its final road trip of the season, and today was that day for the Red Sox' rookies.

The team posted the photo above on Instagram.

When players returned to their lockers after today's game, they found packages containing their attire red Scottish kilts and hats. After putting them on Steven Wright tried to wear a white undershirt but was ordered to take it off the rookies joined veterans on the field for the Picnic in the Park event at Fenway Park.

A bagpiper was brought in to complete the theme.

The Red Sox close out the regular season this week with games at Colorado Tuesday and Wednesday before a final series at Baltimore Friday-Sunday.
