Notes: The Red Sox today activated lefthanded reliever Craig Breslow from the 15-day disabled list. To make room for him on the 25-man roster, pitcher Brandon Workman was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket following last night’s game. Breslow will be active for today’s game. Breslow was placed on the 15-day disabled list on March 27 (retroactive to March 21) with a mild left shoulder strain... Jake Peavy has not had much success against the Rangers, going 0-2 with a 7.59 ERA in four starts. He last faced Texas in 2012 while pitching for the White Sox... Rangers LF Shin-Soo Choo see beach balls when he faces Peavy, going 9 for 21 with two home runs, and 1B Mitch Moreland is 3 for 6 with two homers... Jackie Bradley is 6-for-12 over his last three games after going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs last night... The Red Sox went 16-8 in rubber games last season (7-5 at home), winning 8-of-11 overall after the All-Star break... With 14 hits last night, Boston's offense has produced 82 hits this season, the most for the team through eight games since the 2003 team also had 82 hits... Despite the hit total, the Red Sox average of 3.9 runs scored per game ranks 10th in the AL... Old friend Josh Beckett will make his season debut for the Dodgers tonight against the Detroit Tigers... Beckett had surgery to remove a rib that was pressuring a nerve and causing finger numbness last season and his return was delayed by a pair of recent injuries.A clubhouse door closed on his right thumb, and then Friday in his final tune-up for Rancho Cucamonga, Beckett suffered a mild ankle sprain fielding a bunt.
