Yankees closer David Robinson is on the 15 day DL with a groin strain and Shawn Kelley is filling in, except that Kelley threw 30 pitches last night... 26 year old third baseman Yanervis Solarte, signed ot a minor league contract, has been on fire for the Yankees in the early going batting .429/.643/1.127 in eight games... old friend Jacoby Ellsbury is batting .364 with four stolen bases in nine games for the Bombers... new Yankees catcher Brian McCann is struggling at the plate, batting .152 in 33 at-bats.... tonight's Yankee starter Michael Pineda gave up a run and five hits in six innings against the Jays Saturday in his first start since Sept. 21, 2011 with the Mariners... Mark Teixeira is back on the disabled list with a strained right hamstring... And Derek Jeter mania continues as the Yankee captain is in his final season in case you had not heard, Jeter is 5-for-16 in his last four games after a slow start... From the Red Sox: With a 13-6 record against the Yankees in 2013, the Red Sox became the first team to win 13 or more games against the Yankees in a single season since the 1976 Orioles (13-5)...The Red Sox hadn’t won as many games against the Yankees since 1973 (14-4)... The Sox went 7-3 in the Bronx last season, matching their most wins here since the 1912 team won eight times in the Bronx (also 7-2 in 2011)... old friend Josh Beckett gave up five runs in four innings in his 2014 Dodgers debut vs. the Tigers last night...
