Notes: Clay Buchholz allowed six runs and 10 hits over 4-1/3 innings in an 8-0 loss to the Rangers on Friday. But the enigmatic Red Sox righty has a 3.05 ERA in his last six starts against the Twins... Twins starter Phil Hughes has a 2.05 ERA in his last four starts, issuing one walk in 26 1-3 innings... With his first homer last night, David Ortiz passed Jim Rice (382) for sole possesion of third place on the Red Sox? all-time list...He now stands at 384, behind only Ted Williams (521) and Carl Yastrzemski (452). Ortiz hit two homers vs. his former team, the Twins, for the second straight game. His 3-for-5 night raised his average against his former team to .351, and he has 19 homers and 49 RBIs in 56 games against the Twins. His nine home runs at Target Field are the second most among opposing players here. Only the Blue Jays Jose Bautista (11) has more... The Red hot Mike Napoli is 5-for-9 with two home runs against Hughes and today's left fielder Mike Carp is 5-for-10 off Hughes... At 20-19, the Red Sox are just two wins shy of their 2013 pace through 39 games (22-17).
