Notes: It's been one step forward, one step back for the Red Sox for most of the first 40 games... The Red Sox and Astros are the only teams in baseball that have not won three games in a row this season... Scherzer -- who rejected a six-year, $144 million extension this offseason -- goes for a career high sixth straight win tonight... Since 2008, the Red Sox are 16-6 against the Tigers at Fenway. The Tigers have won eight straight road games, their longest road streak since 2006, but the Detroit righty is only 2-4 with a 7.02 ERA against the Red Sox in the regular season... David Ortiz -- who is batting .552 (16-for-29) with five home runs during his eight game hitting streak -- hits Scherzer well as Big Papi is 7-for-15 with three homers off him during the regular season... Miguel Cabrera is 10-for-19 against Lester, with a home run and five walks against the Sox lefty... Shane Victorino, who received treatment on a sore right knee he hurt in Texas last weekend, is out of the lineup for the second straight game tonight.
