Lineups and Game Notes: Daniel Nava, Hitting .340 in June, Slides Up to the 2-Hole

The Red Sox have been thoroughly outplayed through the first two games of their series with the Mariners, and Wednesday night they try to make sure it isn’t a Seattle Sweep. With Clay Buchholz making his first start in almost a month for the reeling Sox, here are tonight’s lineups for the final game of the series at Safeco Field:

Notes: The Sox continue a season-long-tying 10-game road trip today with the 6th of 7 games on the west coast (1-5)...Boston took 1 of 4 in Oakland to open the series and has dropped the 1st 2 of 3 games in Seattle…After tomorrow’s off-day, Boston ends the road trip over the weekend with 3 games at the Yankees, all national TV broadcasts: Friday night on MLBN (outside NESN territory), Saturday night on FOX, followed by the club’s 5th appearance on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball (2-2) this year, 3rd on the road (1-1)…This road trip finishes a 28-day, 26-game stretch encompassing most of June (6/2-29) over which the Sox were slated for only 7 games in Boston (6/12-18)...Tonight’s game is the last in a stretch is 36 games played in 37 days...Their only off-day within this stretch, which began on 5/20, was on 6/5 in Detroit after flying in from Cleveland during the last road trip...In this span, the Sox have posted a 15-20 record.
