If Matthew McConaughey has his way, fanny packs will be making a comeback as a must-have men's accessory.
The Oscar-winning actor and longtime Astros fan was at Fenway Park with his son on Sunday to take in the Red Sox-Astros game and he was sporting a fanny pack while sitting in his seat along the left field line.
CSN Houston reporter Julia Morales spotted the gear bag around the actor's waist and McConaughey made it clear he was alright, alright, alright with the waist pack that was popular back in the 1990s.
"I'm not afraid of the fanny pack. Instead of stuffing your pockets," McConaughey said. "You kind of got to put it on the side to make it look a little not-as-nerdy, but still, practicality wins out. I've got so much gear in here that I don't want in my pockets, I'm not afraid of the fanny pack."
McConaughey was able to get over to Fenway because he's been in Worcester filming “Sea of Trees,” a Gus Van Sant movie costarring Ken Watanabe and Naomi Watts.
The Red Sox went on to lose 8-1 to McConaughey's Astros, splitting their four-game series with Houston.
