Schilling's first two full seasons with Arizona were sensational as he won a combined 45 games during the regular season, along with a 4-0 record and a Gibson-esque 1.12 ERA in the postseason. But in 2003, Schilling had an appendectomy and hand issues that dropped his performance. The Sox then made a deal that brought Schilling to Boston after the 2003 season.
