
It seems inevitable that in the end the Red Sox will be playing into the postseason in 2009. The only wild card is health, with some key pieces coming off injuries in 2008 or offseason surgeries. There is envious depth in the starting rotation, and the bullpen looks dominant on paper. Though the offense is weakened, the pitching and defense could make up for it, and that could bring the Sox back to where they left off last season, the ALCS, or beyond.
