Aug. 29, 2000 Pedro Martinez hit Gerald Williams, the first batter of the game, with a pitch and the bad blood began. Williams charged the mound and both benches cleared. Eight players from the Devil Rays were ejected from the game. Pedro Martinez went on to pitch a one-hit gem, striking out 13 batters. Martinez carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning, but it was broken up by John Flaherty.
