May 2-4, 2008 The Red Sox returned the favor a week later at Fenway Park, sweeping the Rays to improve their record to 20-13 at the time. Clay Buchholz, Josh Beckett, and Jon Lester were the winning Boston pitchers in the series, which featured a game in which Boston scored 7 runs in 3 2/3 innings against now-Rays ace James Shields. It was Shields' worst outing of the season.
