Ranked by Baseball America as the fourth-best prospect in the Red Sox system, the 21-year-old Bard is off to a slow start in Single-A Lancaster. He went on the disabled list earlier this month with a minor triceps strain. Before going on the shelf, Bard, who was taken in the first round of last year’s draft out of the University of North Carolina, had an 0-2 record with a 10.13 ERA.
