Manny Ramirez was suspended for 50 games for testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug, though the slugger has attributed the positive test not to a steroid but rather a medication prescribed by a doctor for a personal medical issue. A source told the Globe that the substances Ramirez tested positive for was human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), a women's fertility drug that can be used by steroid users to restart their body's testosterone production after a steroid cycle.
