Their lead has shrunk, but the Red Sox aren't exactly playing bad baseball. The Sox have a 17-13 record since the All-Star break. If not for a couple of bad performances by one player (Eric Gagne), the Red Sox could have swept the Orioles. And would we still be having this conversation then?
