The native of Southampton, N.Y. took over for the legendary Ted Williams (left) as Red Sox left fielder in 1961. With his unique batting stance -- he held his bat high and vertical -- "Yaz" won the AL batting title in 1963. He would play 22 seasons in the major leagues, all with the Red Sox.
