Was it a great year? No. But all things considered – especially for a rookie – he did precisely what the Red Sox needed him to. Last postseason, the Red Sox went 10-1 when Ellsbury appeared in a game, 6-0 when he started; he batted .360 in the postseason and might very well have been the MVP of the World Series. When he’s on, he can change games.
