In his first and best season with the Red Sox, Tim Wakefield was virtually unhittable at times, going 16-8 with 119 strikeouts and a 2.95 ERA. Wakefield started the season 14-1 and at one point won 11 straight games for the Red Sox. Wakefield, however, faltered in his one playoff game, surrendering seven runs to the Indians in 5 1/3 innings.
