Doug Mirabelli was literally escorted by police back to the Red Sox after being traded for Josh Bard, who couldn’t handle Tim Wakefield’s knuckleball. While that problem was corrected (Mirabelli had 10 passed balls in 56 games while Bard had as many in six games for Boston), it appeared that Mirabelli left his bat on the plane. He hit .193 while hitting six home runs for Boston.
